About Us
We are a new membership network set up to support and promote lawyers in Scotland who:
- are admitted to the bar of a U.S. state;
- have practised law in the United States; or
- have studied law in the United States.
This includes individuals in the process of seeking admission or currently undertaking studies.
Lawyers based in the United States who have a connection to Scotland (e.g., studied or practiced law in Scotland) also may be admitted to membership.
The Common Bar is a new, invitation-only social club for legal professionals who have a connection to both Scotland and America.
By joining The Common Bar, you will have the chance to expand your network to like-minded professionals, make new connections and enjoy the company of others with experience in Scottish/US legal practice. The Common Bar celebrates two bars divided (or in this case, united) by a common language – and the common law!
